Leipzig and Saxony gives big MICE performance in London

Leipzig and Saxony conference bureaus presented their destinations to MICE professionals in London, 9 October, on the occasion of the first UK performance by the Gewandhaus Orchestra.

The venue was London’s Southbank Centre and Saxony’s rich musical and cultural heritage was emphasised during a presentation before the concert.

The State of Saxony prides itself on being not only Germany’s No. 1 cultural travel destination and Leipzig’s Gewandhaus orchestra ranks amongst the top five orchestras worldwide, but the invited audience heard also about its MICE and Business facilities.

Leipzig was home to famous composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Richard Wagner, and the city hosts major music festivals all-year-round, including Bachfest in June, Wagner Festival in April/May and the Schumann Festival in September. The Gewandhaus Orchestra recently appointed Andris Nelsons as its conductor.

Leipzig bureau’s Susi Wieschollek told the audience about the LEIPZIG 360 Virtual Site Inspection and the bureau’s offering of supporting programmes and incentives.

An example of Leipzig’s new and exciting venues shown in the presentations was Spinnerei, previously Europe’s largest cotton mill and now a hotspot of international art and creativity.
